Give the Gift of Water
... and help change the world for thousands of children. The funds raised will help UNICEF to complete the Lega and Yelam Gej multi-village solar-powered water systems in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia.
Every USD$450 raised can provide 12 children a lifetime of clean water.
Help someone breathe easier
Here's a beautiful poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson on the meaning of living a successful life.
What is Success?
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
MAKE A BETTER WORLD
More than two billion people worldwide, many of them children, have no access to clean water. That is ASTONISHING!! While the problem can seem overwhelming, there are ways we can all make a difference.
Nowhere are the human consequences of water shortage more evident than in the East African countries of South Sudan and Burundi. Civil war, constitutional crisis and severe drought have pushed hundreds of thousands of people into areas with extremely limited water resources. Here it is the children who suffer most – forced to rely on unsafe water, weak, malnourished and susceptible to illness. Water-borne diseases are among the leading causes of death in children under five.
In recent years the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has been working to improve water, sanitation and basic hygiene in East Africa. You can help with fund this ongoing effort.
You CAN make a difference
Do you ever stop to think about how lucky you are to have access to clean running water? Or how frequently you rely on water? Think about every time you have a drink of water, make a tea or coffee, cook, have a shower or bath, go to the toilet, wash your clothes, clean your house, water your garden or wash your car.
Not everyone is so lucky. In East Africa, thousands of children don’t have access to clean, safe and sustainable water like we do, and children have to walk up to 4 hours every single day just to fill their drink bottles. With help, this walk can be reduced to just 10 minutes.
Every USD$450 we raise can provide 12 children with a lifetime supply of clean water. Even if everyone donated only $5, it would make a massive difference to many.
